Continental Divide Trail Map

I submit

I am currently in a motel in Albuquerque, New Mexico about to wing my way back home to NZ (SHOCK, HORROR!). Not really, not for me anyway. I have 'searched my soul' on a daily basis as to why I should stay on the CDT and could never come up with a reason. I have been on this trail for nearly a month and have enjoyed only 2 days (one was a zero). Tomato said to me, if you want to get off, wait for 3 days and if you still feel the same way, it is time. Well I had nearly a month of 'those days'.

I suppose it was the road walks that finally got to me and the lack of scenery. I found I actually disliked the trail on a daily basis and concluded why do something that you are not enjoying. Every day was a 'chore', very unlike the PCT. I did have 'dark days' on the PCT, but these were only a couple in 5 months. On the CDT, every day seemed dark (even though it was hot and sunny).

So my best wishes to those I have met. Smile Train, Straight Jacket, Speed Sticks and Tomato. All of these are going for the Triple Crown I believe. Special thanks to Paranoid and most importantly Peanut Eater of whom I hiked with mostly.

I will be monitoring your progress......

There is a lot of snow up ahead and I believe there will be a lot of bouncing around which I did not want to be part of.

They say you should always go out on top. I made the mistake of coming back for something that I didn't really need to do. Last year on the PCT was my one and only hike and I should have left it as that.

Best wishes to all
