Pacific Crest Trail Map

We are resting in Big Bear today. It will only be a nero because Big Bear is so spread out, and because we don't want to spend too much time in towns. With an ultralight style it's much easier to look forward to walking.

I had pizza on my mind the whole 12 miles, so I hiked fast! When we got here I almost ate a whole large pizza to myself. I've got the hiker hunger early this year!

Today, like in the past, I got worked up over the lion and bear cages; a trashy place located a mile or two before Onyx Summit. I've cried in the past but today I was angry. I saw two grizzly bears lying down in metal cages with no sun protection. Why is this place allowed to exist? It's fucked up.

On a lighter note, our hitch into Big Bear was perfect. We had just arrived and when I stuck out my thumb we watched a car turn around for us. He was so sincere, you could tell he did it out of the goodness of his heart! What a gem!

Tomorrow we'll start our push to Wrightwood, after a hardy breakfast of course!

As Assface once said, "I hear Thelma's is good."
