Last night I was invited to the famous Scout and Frodo's house for dinner with a bunch of hikers who left today. It was a great time getting to meet with some people that I had talked to on Facebook as well as meeting more good people who I hadn't met at all.
After I wishing everyone the best of luck I drive home. I realized that while I am jealous of everyone who gets to start before me, whenever I meet people who will somehow be involved with the trail this summer I get even more stoked about leaving. I get stoked not because I realize how soon I am to leaving (though that does play a role in it) but because of how awesome everyone is! I really enjoyed myself just hanging out on the couch talking with people who I will undoubtably count among my trail family. I just can't wait ringer this thing started, I'm leaving in exactly a month!
Good luck to Maya, Chris, and everyone else who will be starting soon. Be safe, be good.
I've also attached a picture of the sunrise on Mt. San Jacinto I took during my last training hike.
