The night before Jim catches a plane to San Diego, California..........what a hectic day! We have planed for a year and still we second guess ourselves. From everything to equipment, clothes, gear items. What items do we need? Questions and thoughts run through your minds, until our minds are exhausted.
Even though we have back-packed before (1 - 2 weeks vacations). We started in 1984. At that time our gear was pretty top of the line. We were amazed our tent weighted 4 1/2 pounds! Today, with the new high tech- ultra light gear, it makes our gear......seem like something from the dark ages!
The one HIKE KILLER IS WEIGHT!!!!! Oh me! Oh my! What ever should I take and What should I leave behind? I feel like I'm in a Dr. Seuss story.
"You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You're on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the one who'll decide where to go..... (one of my favorite) Dr Seuss- (Oh, the places You'll Go)
