Pacific Crest Trail Map

This was our last day hike of the season with 5.2 miles on the PCT, but a 15 mile hike in totality. Our route (south bound) offerred us a very interesing view of Cathedral Rock, allowing us to see it from different sides. There was a major ford that we were concerned about. While fairly routine for through hikers as through hikers have likely seen much worse than what we were to face, we were uncertain to what we would encournter. This would be our first major ford on the PCT. We had done one earlier in the year on an access trail, but this one was unknown to us. We came across several areas which were quite small and tame and then we found the one that the signs were obviously warning us about. As it turns out, it was not as bad as it could have been and we did very much risk the possiblity of getting wet (not that great for an already dismal day). While my boot encountered water, it was quick enough that my feet remained dry!

Wednesday night is our end of the season potluck and slide show. Its been a great year and we have enjoyed meeting many of the through hikers that we encountered.

The PCTA Communicator is doing an article in the next issue on our encournters this year and I will post an updated journal entry here when that happens... I saw a preview of the article and pictures and it looks great!
