Pacific Crest Trail Map

The wind that everyone thought would let up n the morning did not, & swirled around our head & through our dreams- no one slept real well. Woke up @ 5:15, woke my hiking mates up @ 5:30, was tapping my feet by 5:45, & walking through serious 40-60 mph wind by 6.

The 7 yr old barracuda is the main focus of the morning hike as he is 50#s, & his pack is three times his width. So he is a walking sail/ kite. His mother, sparrow, is amazingly willed & strong, & would never ask for help, but people out here are the helping kind, & we like them. So we get them through the tough sections together.

Lack of sleep & the grinding wind leave me groggy, so I nap midday for 45 minutes, though it feels like 10. Make it to water by 1. As we r still n the last reach of desert, we still have 20 mile stretches between water sources, & I like to split those miles between dusk & dawn: 9 out of the way tonight, 11 by 11 tomorrow. Supposed to b temperate tomorrow, then 90s by Monday. Hope tomorrow can be a big day of miles.

Hiked w navi, bolt, sparrow, barracuda, veggie, hoppalong, dead animal, inspector, & Magellan. Saw astro, bacon bits, & taka.
