What a healthy diet!

Pre-trip

It's been a while since I used postholer, so I wiped out a long entry by doing an email test. Apparently, you can only post once per day, so my second attempt overwrote my first.

Take 2.

Yahoo, I am heading out to hike the Arizona Trail tomorrow! I haven't hiked a long-ish trail in a few years, so this should be fun. I am hiking a little earlier than a normal southbound hike, but I need to be back for school in late September. It might get pretty hot, but I like the desert and do well in the heat.

Navigation: I am carrying the AZT mapset, databook, and water report. I also have the Guthook app and Gaia on my phone

Tent vs. tarp: I decided to use my lightweight tarp and leave my tent at home. I don't think there will be very many flying bugs or rain. Hopefully the creepy-crawlies stay away at night.

Shorts vs. pants: I am going with shorts, even though I know I will get tore up. I hate hiking in pants.

Filter vs. Aqua Mira: Taking Aqua Mira. It is going to be some gross water and I would think the filter would clog up.

Resupplies: I don't have much of a plan, and that is how I like it. I am going to just buy food in the towns and skip sending myself resupplies. I might need shoes toward the end.

Anyway, I have a 5:45 AM flight, so I better turn in. Hoping to do 20 miles in the afternoon and end up at the Grand Canyon in 3-4 days!
